Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Alternative Medical Practitioner (Heilpraktikerin)?

An Alternative Medical Practitioner is a licensed professional who has passed an official examination administered by the German Health Authority (Gesundheitsamt) under the Heilpraktiker Act (Heilpraktikergesetz), granting the right to assess and treat health conditions independently, using alternative medicine methods. At the core of this work is a holistic, natural approach — one that eases symptoms through natural medicine while supporting the body's own capacity to heal itself.

What is the difference between herbal medicine and biochemical treatment (e.g., Schüßler salts)?

Herbal medicine draws on the active compounds of whole plants or plant parts, while biochemistry according to Dr. Schüßler works with mineral salts to support cellular metabolism. The two approaches complement each other well and can be meaningfully combined.

Are herbal remedies safe, and can they interact with medication?

Herbal remedies are active substances too, and — like any effective treatment — they can interact with medication. That's why I review your current medication before starting any treatment, ensuring your care is both safe and carefully tailored to you.

Why are different plant parts, such as roots, leaves, or buds, used?

Every plant stores its active compounds differently — the root, leaves, flowers, buds, or bark can each contain distinct constituents and concentrations. Depending on your specific concern, I select the plant part with the most suitable effect.

Is a tea just as effective as an extract or tincture?
Not quite — the form of preparation significantly affects the outcome. Teas mainly release water-soluble compounds and tend to work more gently, while extracts and tinctures, made through alcohol or other extraction methods, contain a much higher concentration of active ingredients and can act more strongly or more precisely.
What is iridology and how does it work?

Iridology (iris analysis) examines the structure, color, and markings of the iris to draw conclusions about a person's constitutional predispositions and the condition of their organs and tissues.

Is iridology painful or invasive?

Not at all — the examination is completely painless and non-invasive. I simply observe the iris using a specialized magnifying lens or camera.

Can iridology diagnose disease?

Iridology does not replace a conventional medical diagnosis. Rather, it provides complementary insight into potential vulnerabilities and predispositions, which inform the development of an individualized treatment plan.

How long does an iridology session take?

A thorough initial examination typically takes 60 to 90 minutes, including the analysis and consultation.

Who is iridology suitable for?

Iridology is suitable for people of any age who wish to gain a deeper understanding of their health constitution — whether as a preventive step or as a complement to the treatment of an existing condition.

What is Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT®) and who is it suitable for?

Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT®) is a standardized, evidence-based treatment system developed by the Academy of Neurologic Music Therapy®. It specifically targets cognitive, sensorimotor, speech, and communication functions, and I use it to support people with acquired brain injuries, movement disorders, neurological conditions, developmental differences such as ADHD and autism spectrum disorder, or cognitive impairments — always through a natural approach tailored to each person's individual therapy goals.

What does a typical NMT® session look like?

Each session begins with an individual needs assessment, which guides my selection of the most appropriate techniques from the standardized NMT® system developed by the Academy of Neurologic Music Therapy. This system comprises 20 evidence-based techniques addressing sensorimotor function, speech, and cognition — depending on the diagnosis and treatment goals, a session may include rhythmic gait training, melodic speech therapy, or cognitive training exercises.

Do I need to be musically talented to benefit from NMT®?

Not at all — no musical background or skills are needed. NMT® uses music simply as a tool to activate neurological processes, not as artistic training.

Do you also offer online consultations?

Yes — depending on your specific needs, I offer comprehensive online consultations for clients who are unable to travel to Berlin in person. These include an initial assessment, consultation, and ongoing support throughout the course of treatment.

What happens during a consultation?

Each consultation begins with a thorough discussion of your concerns, followed by a comprehensive medical history assessment. Based on this, I provide individually tailored recommendations to support you on your path toward sustainable improvements in lifestyle and wellbeing. A physical examination — such as a general clinical assessment or the use of a stethoscope — cannot be conducted during an online consultation and, where required, takes place exclusively in person at my practice.

How can I book an appointment?

Just reach out to me through the website or via Doctolib — we'll talk through what you need and find the right appointment time and consultation format together.

How many sessions are needed to see visible progress?

This varies from person to person and depends on your specific condition. Initial improvements are often noticeable after just a few sessions, while lasting results usually require a longer course of treatment.

What does the initial assessment cost, and what do follow-up sessions cost?

We begin with a complimentary video call of up to 15 minutes, during which we determine together whether I can help you — feel free to send over any existing medical records beforehand. The initial assessment then costs €120 and takes 60 to 90 minutes, either in person or online. Follow-up sessions are priced as follows: €60 for 30 minutes, €80 for 45 minutes, and €100 for 60 minutes.

Does health insurance cover the costs of NMT®?

Services provided by an alternative medicine practitioner, including NMT®, are typically paid for privately and are not covered by statutory health insurance. Some private supplementary insurance plans do reimburse these costs — I'm happy to advise you individually on this.
